October 16, 2008; Species from the Tropics Migrate on Higher Altitude |

The climate, which is getting warmer in the tropics, is forcing some species to move to new areas. Since the average temperature has increased 0.75 degrees Celsius or 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit in the tropics, species have started to migrate to higher altitudes where the weather is cooler, and where their morphology is best matched. These species are going to face a completely new environment and will have to adapt. This phenomenon won’t slow down because it is is predicted that the weather will only get warmer.
